TUSK – From the A24 Studios and directed by Kevin Smith.
Starring Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment, Genesis Rodriguez, and Michael Parks.
From the singular mind of writer/director and podcaster Kevin Smith, and conceived from one of Smith’s own Smodcast’s, TUSK is a story unlike anything that has ever been committed to screen before. A tale that is equal parts hilarious and horrifying, TUSK will stay with you long after the credits roll. Rated R for “some disturbing violence/gore, language and sexual content”.

I must admit that the trailer did not allude to where this movie took you. Walking into the movie I was expecting to see something along the lines of Misery but definitely through me for a loop. In the beginning intro it says the film is based off a true story but in the ending credits you hear a podcast of Kevin Smith joking around which exactly the plot of this film. The acting in the film was great including the surprise appearance of Johnny Depp… he is just an acting God! The thing I had a hard time with is the wide array of emotions I felt while watching the film. I expected to feel fear since I thought this was a horror film, but it is sprinkled with comedy, heart-felt moments, drama, and just down right creepy and odd. I myself am not a huge B rated horror fan unlike my colleague Mr. Mike Pierce but he loves these types of movies. About mid-movie it took on that Rated B feel complete with unbelievable special effects. This movie definitely was not a favorite for me but I could see other hardcore horror fans loving it. It gets 2 out of 5 stars!
